DYMOKE MONUMENT
Alabaster wall monument to Sir Charles Dymoke and his wife, Margaret.
Sir Charles Dymoke (1532-1611) was a member of Parliament for Lincoln City in 1592. He was the
son of Sir Edward Dymoke, Kings Champion. The Dymoke family have held the hereditary position of Kings Champion for 34 generations. since 1066.
Margaret (d. 1602) was daughter of Morris Wogon of Bloxham, Oxfordshire. She was the widow of Anthony Butler, they had six children within their marriage.
A classically designed monument with 2 figures praying within a frame of two Corinthian columns, a lintel and acanthus detailing.
The figures, probably depicting Charles and Margaret, are shown in typical Tudor knight and lady attire.
